Case 3

eight-year-old girl with chronic rhinitis

The Case

A well-behaved eight-year-old girl came to my office with her father. Her complaints were chronic rhinitis with nasal obstruction. Every two months for the last few years, she would develop severe coughing attacks with vomiting that would last seven to eight days.

The interview

From the interview, I found that she was afraid of downward motion, and in fact experienced motion sickness. Her symptoms were not clear, which is why I didn’t prescribe Borax. I continued the interview, asking her father whether he noticed any other unusual symptoms or behavior. He told me that when she was younger, she constantly touched her genitalia but stopped after he and her mother told her many times that doing so was improper.

The Key Symptom

Immediately, I remembered reading Vithoulkas’s “One Symptom Prescribing in Children.” To confirm what I suspected, I asked the father whether his daughter had a jealous nature. He nodded. “When I come home,” he answered, “if I pet the dog before I give her a hug, she gets very upset.”

The Remedy

I prescribed one dose of Hyoscyamus 1M.

The Results

In six days after her taking the remedy, her rhinitis ceased and she has experienced no further episodes of coughing and vomiting.

In the second part of the twentieth century, homeopathy was essentially forgotten. Many people blame symptom-suppressing medicines of the modern pharmaceutical industry. The public had accepted this new treatment, unaware of the side effects of medications and chemicals, some of which severely damage our organisms. I posit that the low level of education of homeopaths—which produced mediocre results at best—additionally contributed to the public decline of the use of homeopathy.

In the 1970s, George Vithoulkas began to fight those who criticized homeopathy. With his teachings and discoveries, he has revived homeopathy to the level it is today. It is time to recognize his enormous contribution. Please join me and raise your voice in any way you can to preserve this powerful science. We must stand our ground! Let it flourish and help relieve our mankind’s sufferings.
